Introduction to Researching South Pacific Law

The focus of this guide, on the GlobaLex web site, is on the small island states of the South Pacific. There are hypertext links to the sources discussed, where possible. Its author is Peter Murgatroyd, formerly Law Librarian of the University of the South Pacific and currently based in Auckland, New Zealand. The current version is dated September/October 2019. Previous versions dated February 2009 and July/August 2014 are also available.

Law of the Pacific Islands: a Guide to Web Based Resources

This guide, written by Dianne Thompson, Anna Matich and Ruth Bird, and published on the LLRX.com site, provides legal and political background to the jurisdictions concerned, and links to legislation and judgments where available. Also included are treaties and journals of general application to the region. This is an updated version, published July 2008.

Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute

The Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute (PacLII) provides legislation and case law from 20 jurisdictions throughout the Pacific including the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. There is also a brief outline of the legal system in each jurisdiction.
