Commons Commissioners

Commons Commissioners were appointed under the Commons Registration Act 1965 to settle disputed entries in local authority registers of common land and town and village greens and to determine the ownership of unclaimed common land and greens. Most decisions of the Commons Commissioners 1972 onwards are available to download from this page on the web site of the Association of Commons Registration Authorities (formerly the Commons and Greens Registration and Management Association).

Communities and Local Government: Planning

The "Planning, Building and the Environment" section of the (Department for) Communities and Local Government web site includes statistics, current and archived consultation papers, and a range of publications providing information, guidance and advice on planning policy and building regulations. Amongst documents provided in full text are planning circulars, Planning Policy Guidance Notes (PPGs) and Planning Policy Statements (PPSs).

Planning Appeals Commission

The Planning Appeals Commission (PAC) is an independent appellate body which deals with a range of land use planning issues and related matters in Northern Ireland. The site includes information, forms and guidance for appellants. There is a "Digest" section covering recent appeals, inquiries and hearings, and a "Legal Challenges" section listing challenges to the PAC in the courts. The site also provides information on the Water Appeals Commission.

Planning Inspectorate

The Planning Inspectorate's responsibilities include the processing of planning and enforcement appeals, holding inquiries into local development plans, listed building consent appeals, advertisement appeals, and reporting on planning applications. Its web site provides information, guidance, and downloadable documents and forms. The Inspectorate took on additional responsibilities in respect of common land and greens from 1 October 2007, and there are decisions and links to legislation, besides forms and guidance, in the site's Common Land section.

Planning Inspectorate - Wales

Planning Portal

The Planning Portal is the UK government's online planning and building regulations resource for England and Wales. The site has separate areas for the general public, for professional users and for government users. The "Professional User" section in particular provides detailed guidance supported by links to legislation, including the Building Regulations and related Approved Documents.

Planning Service

The Planning Service is an executive agency of the Department of the Environment of Northern Ireland, responsible for developing and implementing the Northern Ireland government's planning and development policies. Its site includes information (as leaflets, FAQs, etc), guidance, consultations, forms, news and statistics. In the Legislation section there are lists of relevant primary legislation 1963 onwards and of secondary legislation 1975 onwards.

Scottish Government: Built Environment

This area of the Scottish Government site covers planning, housing, regeneration and building. The Planning section includes consultations, advice and guidance, policy documents, circulars, Planning Advice Notes (PANs), and links to legislation. Within the Building section there is information on construction contract legislation.
