Accountant in Bankruptcy

The Accountant in Bankruptcy is an executive agency of the Scottish Government. It was set up to supervise and administer the process of sequestration (personal bankruptcy) in Scotland and to record corporate insolvencies. The site includes various publications and guides on the process of insolvency in Scotland, annual reports 1986-87 onwards, and relevant legislation.

Bankruptcy and Companies Court

The Bankruptcy and Companies Court, which is part of the High Court Chancery Division, deals with certain kinds of cases concerning insolvency law (both corporate and individual) and company law. Information and guidance, including the Bankruptcy Court Guide, are available here on the Justice portal site.

Global Insolvency Law Database

The Global Insolvency Law Database (GILD) is the World Bank's legal portal for insolvency and creditor rights (ICR) matters. The database includes reports, articles, coverage of recent developments in ICR law, and the World Bank's principles and guidelines.

Insolvency Practitioners Association

The IPA's site includes Statements of Insolvency Practice (SIPs), general guidance and  links to relevant legislation. All of these can be found under the "Regulation and Guidance" tab. The Association's magazine Insolvency Practitioner is also available to view from November 1997 onwards and there is a section on complaints procedure.

Insolvency Service

The Insolvency Service is an executive agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. It performs a number of statutory functions in relation to bankruptcy, the winding up of companies and partnerships, and related matters, including regulation of the insolvency profession. Its site has forms, guidance, consultations, and within the "Profession" section links to the various Insolvency Acts, the Insolvency Rules, and other relevant legislation, including EU law.

Insolvency Service [Northern Ireland]

The Insolvency Service for Northern Ireland is part of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (NI). Its site includes links to relevant legislation, guidance for insolvency practitioners and details of bankruptcy and liquidation processes in Northern Ireland.

International Insolvency Institute

The International Insolvency Institute is a non-profit, limited-membership organization dedicated to advancing and promoting insolvency as a respected discipline in the international field. Its primary objectives include improving international co-operation in the insolvency area and achieving greater co-ordination among nations in multinational business reorganizations and restructurings. Under  E-Library there is a section on country resources and within the "insolvency topics" heading there are papers on some international insolvency treaties.
