Additional Support Needs Tribunals for Scotland
Under the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 Scottish education authorities may draw up Co-ordinated Support Plans for children and young people who have "additional support needs". Additional Support Needs Tribunals hear appeals made by parents and young people on certain matters relating to such plans. Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment
The Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) is responsible for the regulation of all qualifications (except NVQs, for which Ofqual is responsible) in Northern Ireland. Documents on the site include annual reports 2004-2005 onwards.

Department for Education
The Department for Education is responsible for education and children's services. It was formed on 12 May 2010, replacing the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF). The site has current consultation documents, reports, speeches and press notices. There are links (via "Publications") to departmental annual reports 2003 onwards, press notices 1998 onwards, and a range of other statistical and departmental publications, all downloadable. Links are also provided to the Department's separate TeacherNet site, which includes guidance on the law and related documents for schools, and to many other education-related bodies.

The web site of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture includes information about current projects and initiatives, with links to relevant documents, information about publications, the Directorate-General's periodical The Magazine 2006 onwards, and details of recent public consultations.

First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability)
The First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability) hears appeals from parents of children with special educational needs against decisions made by English local authorities about their children's education. Formerly known as the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST), it has since 3 November 2008 formed part of the First-tier Tribunal's Health, Education and Social Care Chamber. Much of the information on the site is to be found either under the tab "Parents" (information for parents and anyone helping them to appeal to the Tribunal) or under "LAs & RBs" (information for local education authorities and other regular users of the Tribunal - this tab can be accessed via the "Decisions" tab). There are forms, guidance, annual reports, and links to relevant legislation. A searchable list of decisions currently covers October 2000 to July 2006, with full text available for most.

General Teaching Council for England
The General Teaching Council for England (GTC) was set up under the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 as the independent professional body for teaching in England. Its functions include maintenance of a register of qualified teachers and exercise of a regulatory role over the teaching profession. The "Teachers" section includes a link to the Code of Conduct and Practice, and the "Regulation" section includes an overview of the disciplinary process, the Disciplinary Procedure Rules 2008 (under "Regulating the profession"), and details of recent disciplinary orders and decisions.

Govan Law Centre: Education Law Unit
Govan Law Centre's Education Law Unit is a legal resource aimed at anyone who advises either children with special educational needs or their parents in Scotland. The web site includes recent education and education law news, including details of recent cases, a variety of education law articles and Scottish Executive Education Department guidance documents, and information about the unit's work and services. There is also a link to the Additional Support Needs website, which deals with the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004.

Governornet: Guide to the Law for School Governors
Governornet is a web site produced by the Department for Children, Schools and Families which provides information for school governors. This guide to the law for school governors is available in both pdf and Word versions. The current edition was published in January 2010 and has an effective date of 11 December 2009. The site also has a “Jargon Buster”, providing definitions of abbreviations, acronyms and other terms related to the education system.

Independent Complaints Adjudication Service for Ofsted
The Independent Complaints Adjudication Service for Ofsted provides a review service for complainants who remain dissatisfied after exhausting the internal complaints procedures of Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills), having taken over this function from the Independent Complaints Adjudicator for Ofsted in January 2009. The web site includes information about the process and how to apply, and will include annual reports when they are available.

Office of the Independent Adjudicator
The Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA) operates an independent complaints scheme for students in higher education in England and Wales. It was created in 2004, replacing the previous visitatorial system for higher education institutions. The site has the Rules of the scheme, forms, guidance both for students and for higher education institutions, recent decisions and annual reports.

Office of the Schools Adjudicator
The OSA deals with certain kinds of dispute relating to school admission arrangements and the organisation of schools. Its site includes decisions and judicial reviews of decisions 1999 onwards; links to relevant legislation; recent press releases; and recent annual reports.

Ofqual
Ofqual - the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator - was established in April 2008 as the new regulator of qualifications, examinations and tests in England. It is also responsible for the regulation of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in Northern Ireland. The site's "How we regulate" section sets out Ofqual's regulatory aims and includes codes of practice, regulatory guidance and other documents.

Ofsted
Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) inspects education and training for learners of all ages except those in higher education institutes and universities. Since 1 April 2007 it has also been responsible for the registration, regulation and inspection of children's social care in England. All of its inspection reports are published on the site. Other sections provide news, forms and guidance, consultations, statistics, and annual reports 1995-96 onwards.

OxCHEPS: Law of Higher Education Online Casebook
OxCHEPS is the Oxford Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies. This section of its web site is intended to accompany The Law of Higher Education by Dennis Farringdon and David Palfreyman (OUP). It provides analysis of cases relating to higher education, with particular emphasis on the relationship between higher education institutions and their students. Links are provided to full text judgments of most of the cases mentioned. The compilers are Stephen Glasper and David Palfreyman, Director of OxCHEPS.

A separate devolved Special Educational Needs Tribunal for Wales (SENTW) came into being in September 2003. Its web site has contact details and information aimed primarily at parents in Wales whose children have special educational needs.
