Centre of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law
The Centre of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law (CIMEL), at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, promotes the study and understanding of Islamic law and modern Middle East legal systems. The site includes reading lists for the study of Islamic law and a list of publications which have resulted from CIMEL's conferences and lecture series. Some documents are reproduced on the site. Also accessible here is information and materials relating to the 'Honour Crimes' Project which is jointly co-ordinated by CIMEL and INTERIGHTS.

Doing Business: Business Laws
Doing Business is a project of the World Bank Group concerned with business regulations and their enforcement. This section of the Doing Business site is described as comprising "the largest free online collection of business laws and regulations". Content is searchable by economy (including regional and income groupings as well as individual countries) and by type of law. Search results link to the full text of documents which are from official government sources wherever possible.

FindLaw: International Resources
This section of the FindLaw gateway site has an alphabetical index of countries with links (where available) to legal resources covering legislation, case law, government bodies, organisations and legal news. There is a separate index of Constitutions of the World and there are links to other gateway sites which feature worldwide or international information.

Global Competition Forum
The Global Competition Forum is an initiative of the International Bar Association. Its web site provides links to key competition legislation and selected case law from countries throughout the world, and to the web sites of national enforcement agencies.

Global Insolvency Law Database
The Global Insolvency Law Database (GILD) is the World Bank's legal portal for insolvency and creditor rights (ICR) matters. The database includes reports, articles, legislation, coverage of recent developments in ICR law, and the World Bank's principles and guidelines.

Global Legal Information Network
The Global Legal Information Network (GLIN) is a database of the official texts of laws, regulations, judicial decisions and other legal sources contributed by government agencies and international organisations and held on a Library of Congress server. There is a preponderance of information from Latin American countries. Each document has a descriptive summary and there is a link to the full text (in PDF format) where member countries and institutions have given permission. Searches can be done by jurisdiction, subject, date or category of material. Subject terms used in the GLIN thesaurus are available for browsing.

GlobalCourts
The GlobalCourts web site, which is part of an ongoing research project, describes itself as "a guide for researchers and legal practitioners seeking information on Supreme Court decisions from around the world". It gives access to decisions in 129 countries or a way of finding them.

GlobaLex
GlobaLex provides online guides to international, foreign and comparative law research. The site's four sections are International Law Research (guides to over 25 topics), Comparative Law Research, Foreign Law Research (guides to over 100 countries), and Tools for Building Foreign, Comparative and International Law Collections. The guides include commentary, bibliographies and links to online resources, and are written by subject librarians and faculty staff from universities and other institutions from around the globe. The site is produced by the Hauser Global Law School Program (HGLSP) at the New York University School of Law.

This section of the Harvard Law School Library site provides annotated links to legal web sites worldwide. Under Foreign Law there is an alphabetical index of countries with links (where available) to sites covering each country's constitution, codes, laws and legislation, laws by subject, jurisprudence, government and research guides.

Inter-Parliamentary Union
The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is an international organisation of parliaments of sovereign states which acts to promote parliamentary democracy. The site has information on IPU's structure, purpose and activities. It includes the PARLINE database, which contains information on the structure and working methods of national parliaments worldwide. Entries give details of the parliamentary chamber, the electoral system, and results from the most recent elections. There is also an alphabetical list of countries with links to their parliamentary web sites.

The International Compliance Association (ICA) is a non-profit making professional organisation which promotes best compliance and anti-money laundering practice in the financial services sector. Much of the information on the site is for ICA members only, but freely accessible sections include extensive links to national and supranational regulatory and enforcement bodies worldwide.

Intute is a gateway site produced by a consortium of seven UK universities and other partners. JURIST: World Law
JURIST is a legal news and research site based at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Its World Law section has an alphabetical listing of countries containing information on their constitutions, government and legislation, courts and judgments, human rights, legal profession and law schools, with links to relevant sites. There is also a legal news weblog with an archive from January 2003 onwards, accessible via the "Paper Chase" link.

LawCite is an automatically generated international legal case and journal article citator which is being developed at AustLII with the collaboration of other members of the Free Access to Law Movement. Over 18,000 law report and journal series are currently indexed, and the database includes over three and a half million cases and law journal articles from around the world. Emphasis is on common law countries but this is gradually being extended to include civil law jurisdictions. Decisions are searchable by citation, parties, court, jurisdiction and date, and search results include a link to the full text of the case where available, together with details of legislation cited, cases and articles cited, and cases and articles referring to the case. |
Lexadin: World Law Guide
Lexadin is a Netherlands based legal technology service. Its web site provides many thousands of links to worldwide legal information resources in over 180 countries. Main section headings include Legislation, Law Firms, Courts & Cases, Indices (ie legal gateway and portal sites) and Law Journals, and the arrangement within most sections is alphabetically by country.

LLRX.com: Legal Research
LLRX.com describes itself as an independent web journal which provides articles, research guides and other resources relating to legal practice, research and law firm management. United States legal research content is set out under three categories in the side menu: Federal Legislative Research, Legislative Research Guide and United States Law (the last being arranged alphabetically by topic). For international, comparative and foreign law content select Foreign & Comparative Law. Within that category, particularly within the "International Legal Research" subcategory, there are articles and guides on international law topics and on researching the law in various countries and regions of the world.

WorldLII - the World Legal Information Institute - is a research facility providing free access to the law of over 120 jurisdictions, developed collaboratively by a number of Legal Information Institutes (LIIs) and coordinated by AustLII. It has three main components: Databases, Catalog and Websearch. Databases cover case law, legislation, treaties, law reform reports, law journals and other materials from Asia, Australia, Canada, the Commonwealth, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Southern Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom and the United States, all accessible via a single search facility. Searches can also be done by continent, region or country.
