Costs Lawyer Standards Board
The Costs Lawyer Standards Board (CLSB) is the Approved Regulator of costs lawyers in England and Wales. Documents accessible on its site include the costs lawyers' Code of Conduct, Practising Rules, and Disciplinary Rules & Procedures. There is a searchable register of costs lawyers who hold a current practising certificate and are therefore regulated by the CLSB. |
Costs Monkey
Costs Monkey is a free information site aimed primarily at students on the Association of Costs Lawyers training course. This includes a brief overview of costs law with extensive references to cases and to the Civil Procedure Rules. |
Review of Civil Litigation Costs
Lord Justice Jackson was appointed by the Master of the Rolls in November 2008 to lead a fundamental review of the costs of civil litigation in England and Wales, and to make recommendations. His preliminary report was published 8 May 2009 and his final report 14 January 2010. Both may be downloaded from this section of the Judiciary of England and Wales and Tribunals Judiciary web site. Other content includes consultation responses and information on implementation of the review. |

The Senior Courts Costs Office (SCCO) was known before the establishment of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in 2009 as the Supreme Court Costs Office. Thirty Nine Essex Street: Costs Cases Online
The barristers' chambers Thirty Nine Essex Street provides this database of costs cases determined after 1 January 2005 which the compilers believe have value as precedents. Case summaries are provided in both very brief (browsable) and fuller versions. From the case citations in the fuller summaries there are links to the free, limited version of the online legal citator JustCite. There is also a free emailing service for summaries of last month's new cases. |
