The Labour Court is an industrial relations tribunal, established in 1946, which resolves disputes about industrial relations, equality, organisation of working time and other employment matters within the Republic of Ireland. The site contains information on its purpose, organisation, procedures and services, and includes a database of Recommendations, Determinations and Decisions 1986 onwards, which is updated daily. Other content includes a "JLC/REA Rates of Pay" section, which has details of rates of pay by sector, a list of Employment Regulation Orders currently in force, and a list of current Registered Employment Agreements.

Labour Web is a European labour law site produced by the Massimo D'Antona Centre for the Study of European Labour Law at the University of Catania (Italy). Lahore High Court
The official web site of the Lahore High Court contains the sections of the constitution relating to the Court, Rules of the Court, cause lists viewable by judge, information on judges, a searchable database of full text judgments, and forms.

Lancet
The Lancet is an authoritative independent general medical journal, published weekly. Much of the content of its web site is accessible only by subscribers, but there is also a free registration facility which permits access to all article abstracts and to selected full-text articles and news items. Site coverage extends also to four associated specialty journals which are concerned with infectious diseases, neurology, oncology and (from March 2013) respiratory medicine.

Land Registry
The Land Registry administers the land registration system throughout England and Wales. It is an executive agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. The site's Professional section is designed for conveyancers and other property professionals and includes general information, explanatory leaflets, forms, and links to relevant legislation including the Land Registration Rules 2003, the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, and the Commonhold Regulations 2004. Also available in full text is the set of over 70 Practice Guides produced by the Land Registry for conveyancers and other property or legal professionals.

Lands Chamber (Upper Tribunal)
The Lands Tribunal was established in 1949 to resolve certain kinds of dispute about land in England and Wales, particularly relating to the valuation of land. It was transferred into the Lands Chamber of the Upper Tribunal on 1 June 2009, with unchanged functions which include the hearing of appeals from Valuation Tribunals, Leasehold Valuation Tribunals and Residential Property Tribunals. The Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, also known as the Pakistan Law Commission, was set up in 1979 as a permanent institution for the reform and modernisation of the legal system. It has submitted so far well over a hondred reports to the government, all of which are available on this web site, which also contains the annual report, 2001 onwards and the Constitution of Pakistan.

Law and Justice Foundation of New South Wales
The Law and Justice Foundation is an independent statutory body which works to improve access to justice for the people of New South Wales. Its web site provides a gateway for legislation, case law and court information, covering the whole of Australia, not only New South Wales. The “Legislation and Parliament” and “Judgments and Courts” sections complement AustLII in that there are links to alternative sources of data. There are also links to decisions of some quasi-judicial bodies not included in AustLII.

Law and Religion Scholars Network (LARSN)
The Law and Religion Scholars Network (LARSN) was set up by Cardiff's Centre for Law and Religion in 2008 to bring together academics who were interested in how law and relgion interact. Site content includes a Case Database, which provides a list of judgments delivered by UK courts, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights concerning law and religion. The database has a short summary of the decision and a link to the case transcript. All cases from 2000 onwards are included, plus some significant earlier cases. Other site content includes a list of recent law and religion publications as well as weblinks to primary and secondary legal materials. journals, organisations and research groups.

Law Commission
The Law Commission is a statutory independent body created in 1965 to review the law and recommend reform. The full texts of its reports are available here from no.237 (1996) onwards, consultation papers from no.140 (1996) onwards, and annual reports from 31st (1996) onwards. (Note that BAILII has a more comprehensive Law Commission database which includes all reports and consultations right back to 1965.) There is information on current projects and on both current and recent consultations. Law Commission of Canada
The Commission was established by the Canadian government in 1997 to provide independent advice on the improvement, modernisation and reform of the law of Canada. Its research and findings are presented thematically rather than chronologically and include research papers, final reports and links to relevant resources originating in the various Canadian provinces as well as in foreign jurisdictions. NB: The Law Commission of Canada lost its funding in 2006 and no further publications have been added to the web site; this is an archived version.

Law Reform Commission of Hong Kong
The Commission was established in 1980 to make recommendations for law reform in Hong Kong. These are contained in its reports, all of which are available here, together with consultation papers from 1996 onwards. The site also provides information on implementation of the Commission's recommendations, its current projects and membership, and an extensive collection of legal links.

Law Reform Commission of Ireland
The Law Reform Commission is an independent statutory body established in 1975 to keep the law of Ireland under review and make recommendations for its reform. The site has details of both current and completed projects. All publications since its inception are available, including reports, consultation papers and annual reports. Other content includes an implementation table and a link to the Legislation Directory, a database documenting amendments made to primary legislation since 1922 which is maintained by the Commission but hosted on the Irish Statute Book site. A Classified List of Legislation (Acts in force) in Ireland (Nov 2012), with each Act assigned to its relevant government department, is also available on the site.

Law Reports of Trials of War Criminals
This is a series of 15 volumes of material selected and prepared by the United Nations War Crimes Commission, 1947-1949. It covers proceedings taken against individuals accused of war crimes during World War II, excluding those tried by the Nuremberg and Tokyo International Military Tribunals. The volumes have been scanned and are available on the Library of Congress's Federal Research Division web site as downloadable PDFs.

The Law Society of England and Wales is the professional association and Approved Regulator of solicitors in England and Wales. LawCite is an automatically generated international legal case and journal article citator which is being developed at AustLII with the collaboration of other members of the Free Access to Law Movement. Over 18,000 law report and journal series are currently indexed, and the database includes over four million cases and law journal articles from around the world. Emphasis is on common law countries but this is gradually being extended to include civil law jurisdictions. Decisions are searchable by citation, parties, court, jurisdiction and date, and search results include a link to the full text of the case where available, together with details of legislation cited, cases and articles cited, and cases and articles referring to the case.

LEASE
LEASE is the Leasehold Advisory Service, a non-departmental public body funded by Government to provide free legal advice to leaseholders, landlords, professional advisers, managers and others on the law affecting residential leasehold in England and Wales. There are full text (pdf) decisions and determinations of Leasehold Valuation Tribunals 1994 onwards, together with various guides (some including links to legislation), reports and other publications relating to the residential leasehold system.

Legal aid
This section of the Justice web portal is for legal aid practitioners. It includes links to legislation and to information on making an application for legal aid, submitting a claim, assessing a client's eligibility, funding and costs assessment, and contracts and tenders. There is also a link to information on the Legal Aid Agency (LAA), an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice, which provides both civil and criminal legal aid advice in England and Wales. The agency replaced the Legal Services Commission on 1 April 2013. The Civil Legal Advice service, a national advice service paid for by legal aid, which offers free legal advice to those eligible for legal aid, and the Public Defender Service, which provides independent advice, assistance and representation on criminal matters, are also part of this agency.

Legal Information Institute of India
The Legal Information Institute of India is an international standard, free-access, non-profit, comprehensive online collection of Indian legal information, formally launched in March 2011. It is a joint project of four Indian law schools, with initial technical development from AustLII, and is a member of the Free Access to Law Movement. Contents include legislation (the India Code from 1836, some state legislation, and commentary on legislation), case law (over 300,000 cases in full text from the Supreme Court, most High Courts, and tribunals), the Indian Treaty Series (bilateral treaties 1947 onwards), law reform reports (from the Law Commission), legal scholarship (six law journals to date, with scholarship repositories, books and judicial scholarship still to be developed), cases concerning India in international courts and tribunals, and cases concerning India from the pre-1873 English Reports.

Legal Services Board
The Legal Services Board (LSB) is the single "oversight regulator" for the legal profession in England and Wales. It oversees those bodies designated Approved Regulators which directly regulate solicitors, barristers, legal executives, licensed conveyancers, patent and trade mark attorneys, notaries and costs lawyers. It was created under the Legal Services Act 2007 and became fully operational on 1 January 2010. The site includes background information on the creation of the LSB, a list of the Approved Regulators, FAQs, consultations, news and press releases.

The Legal Services Research Centre (LSRC), which was the independent research division of the Legal Services Commission, closed on 1 April 2013. Its publications can be accessed via the National Archives website.

Legal Services Review
Sir David Clementi's Review of the regulation of legal services in England and Wales published its report on 15 December 2004. Besides the full text of the report, the site (now archived) has general information about the Review and its terms of reference, press notices, a consultation paper dated 8 March 2004, and relevant publications of the Department for Constitutional Affairs and the Office of Fair Trading. The site is no longer updated, but has been archived for preservation by the National Archives.

The LegalB database is one of a range of services provided by a firm of compliance specialists based in Johannesburg. It provides information on South African national legislation, 1994 to date. For each Act there is an overview giving the long title of the Act and listing its sections (including details of insertions and repeals), a list of amending Acts and links to the text of the Act, as passed and as amended. Amended versions of Acts are available to subscribers only. There are lists of Acts for the period 1910 to 1994 and background information about sources of South African law from all periods.

This site brings together in one location the original (as enacted) and revised versions of UK legislation, including that of the devolved administrations, which were previously available on the now decommissioned OPSI and Statute Law Database sites. Most primary legislation is available as revised at least up to 2002, with about half of it updated further to the present. The original text as enacted may be accessed under "What Version" on the left of the screen. Most secondary legislation is not revised. A complete breakdown of all types of legislation with coverage dates of each is to be found under the "Browse Legislation" tab. There is also a "New Legislation" section to which newly enacted legislation is added within 24 hours of its publication in printed form, a set of FAQs providing detailed information on site content and features, and both basic and advanced search facilities.

Legislative Council
The Legislative Council is the legislature of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The "Council Meetings" section of its web site, within "Legco Business", includes Bills, Hansard and subsidiary legislation for the last few years. Select "Current and Past Meeting Records" for earlier sessions. This section also has reports of sittings of the former (colonial) Legislative Council, 1884-1997.

Lending Standards Board
On 1 November 2009 responsibility for the regulation of deposit and payment products transfered to the Financial Services Authority. In the light of this change the Banking Code Standards Board has changed its name to the Lending Standards Board (LSB). The LSB will monitor and enforce compliance with a new Lending Code that replaces those elements of the Banking Code and Business Banking Code relating to lending. The LSB web site contains the Lending Code and Code Rules.

Leveson Inquiry
Lord Justice Leveson was appointed in July 2011, following developments in the News International phone hacking scandal, to chair an inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the British press. Formal hearings were concluded on 24 July 2012 and the Leveson Report published 29 November 2012. Site content includes the inquiry's full terms of reference, transcripts of hearings, evidence, the chairman's rulings and key documents. Links are provided to the government's Official Documents web site from which both the full report and an executive summary are available for downloading.

The Local Government Association represents all local authorities in England and Wales as well as police, fire, national park and passenger transport authorities. Local Government Ombudsman
The Local Government Ombudsman investigates complaints of maladministration by local authorities and certain other bodies in England, including education admissions appeal panels and adult social care providers. The site includes guidance, a "Complaint Outcomes" section which includes all investigation reports published since 1 April 2005, a number of special reports on the handling of complaints in particular subject areas, recent annual reports, and other publications.

Local Government Standards Tribunal
The First-tier Tribunal (Local Government Standards in England) hears and adjudicates on matters concerning the conduct of local authority councillors, including appeals against the decisions of local standards committees. It came into existence on 18 January 2010, taking over from the Adjudication Panel for England (2003-2010) and forming part of the First-tier Tribunal's General Regulatory Chamber. This section of the Justice portal site includes guidance and forms. The London Gazette (established 1665), Edinburgh Gazette and Belfast Gazette are the official newspapers of record of the United Kingdom, recording and disseminating a wide range of official, regulatory and legal information. This independent review, led by Lord Carter of Coles, looked at new methods for procuring legal services with legal aid. Lost in Care
Lost in Care is the report of the tribunal of inquiry into the abuse of children in care in the former county council areas of Gwynedd and Clwyd between 1974 and 1990. The tribunal was appointed in 1996 and chaired by Sir Ronald Waterhouse, a retired High Court judge. Its report, published in February 2000, is accessible here within the UK Government Web Archive.
